The bass guitar is distinctively audible in quite a few surprising sections. The guitar tone is one of the most amazing I've heard in metal to this day, it is EXTREMELY dirty and aggressive during the riffs, it is as dirty as it can be but keeping a "metallic" sound to it that Master Of Puppets didn't repeat (really hard to describe it), and it is very bright/glowing during the melodies and solos. It is a heavy but very bright/glowing wall of sound with extremely reverbed vocals (I don't like reverb on vocals but it sounds really good here). On the other hand, there is something really distinct about the sound of Ride The Lighting, but I can't really determine what it is. It's really hard to compare Master Of Puppets with Ride, on the one hand Master Of Puppets has no fillers and not a single song is a letdown while Ride has Escape to break the flow a bit.
